Welcome to CLAC!

We are very pleased to let you know that ballots were counted yesterday from the June 5-6 Labour Board vote and CLAC Local 56 will be your new union at YYC Garda!  The vote results were 296-183 in favour of CLAC over your current union, the Teamsters.

 

We are humbled by your trust and support and are excited to provide you with union representation moving forward at YYC.

 

This result comes a year and a day after CLAC—together with a strong team of your co-workers at YYC—launched the campaign for change in union representation at YYC. During the campaign, over 400 of your fellow Screening Officers signed membership cards and paid a $5 membership fee in support of CLAC to replace the Teamsters; this strong show of support has now been followed by the impressive results of the Labour Board vote.

 

We look forward to beginning our work as your union and will do so as soon as the Labour Board issues its final ruling that the change is official (which should occur within a few days).  We will immediately get to work to ensure that you have elected stewards, a smooth transition for health benefits and pension funds, and an opportunity to meet your union representatives from CLAC.

 

At this time, we only have contact information for screening officers who signed CLAC membership cards; however, we hope to have contact information for all Screening Officers from Garda.  Please feel free to share this news with anyone who has not received it.
